On 21.08.2013 started the implementation of the project entitled “Traditional Craft Professions and their Adaptation to the Economy in the Cross-Border Area” (CRAFTS), No. 2007CB16IPO008-2011-2-028, Subsidy Contract No. РД-02-29 330/21.08.2013г.

The project is co-funded by EU through the Bulgaria – Turkey IPA Cross-Border Programme (CCI number 2007CB16IPO008), Priority Axis 1: Sustainable Social & Economic Development. Project partners are: Burgas Regional Chamber of Skilled Crafts - Lead Partner; Kirklareli Chamber of Tradesmen and Craftsmen and European Integration & Regional Competitiveness Foundation. The project duration is 12 months and it has approved budget of EUR 72 470.63.

The overall objective of CRAFTS project is the creation and support of prospective and stable cross-border cooperation for exchange of knowledge and good practices in the field of handcrafts amongst the participating organizations and other stakeholders (target groups). The project will facilitate the cross-flow of knowledge, business practices and experience in the eligible area. For this motive, it foresees the establishment of a wider socio-economic and educational tool to support Bulgarian and Turkish handcrafters. In the past few years we have observed slower progress and development in craft professions. The project therefore undertakes a research approach towards traditional crafts in the cross-border area, aiming at a comprehensive strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) analysis.
